How do I get photos from my digital camera onto my computer?

My family and I bought a Sony Cyber-Shot camera a while ago and took a couple of pictures. After that, we wanted to send some photos to our relatives through email, so we asked around on how to get the images onto our computer .Some people have told us to take our Memory Stick and insert it into our MMC/SD slot. So we did, but nothing happened. Can somebody tell me if we did anything wrong? If not, what we should do instead?

Cody:
No, it didn't.

Hi, the only two ways to get images off a digital camera and onto a computer is with either a USB cable (which has a connector that fits your Cyber-Shot), they are usually supplied with the camera or can be purchased seperately... and the other way is what was suggested to you.

Be sure the card fits the slot reader and that it is in securely (though you don't need to jam it in). Ordinarilly, there should be a small window popping up on your desktop prompting you to select a program to open the card. I recommend opening the reader with an image program you ordinarilly use but personally, I prefer selecting the open in folder option and just putting the images where I want). If this window doesn't appear, you can go into 'my computer' (either on the desktop or accessed from the Start Menu) and look for the new drive and open it there. Right click on the first image to choose a method to open the images. To view the images, I prefer using the 'Window Pictures and Fax Viewer' then selecting the 'slide show' option.

Once you find your images, in the folder with the images, on a white space in the window with the images, click once to release the cursor, than hold Ctrl, +A(all) then release and +X(cut). Next, make a new folder in your 'my pictures' folder. Right click the new folder and paste. This clears your camera card and puts all images at once into your specified computer folder. Getting the hang of image management programs will give you control options like renaming all the images upon tranferring them onto your computer.

Hope that helps

it should work

unless you need a driver... did it come with a CD when you bought it?

They also sell USB cables for like less than $10 at most locations check like a Best Buy or Circuit City or something

with my camera, i have to use a usb cable and transfer the pictures through that. I don't know how your camera works, but you might want to try it.

Hope it helps.
