Would a damaged memory card prevent a digital camera from working?

Is it possible to restore all the pictures that were taken somehow, or would I have to send in the camera for repair or just buy a new memory card?

A memory card shouldn't stop the camera working. take the card out and try it then.

You have probably lost the photos but there are specialist places that do data recovery off discs. expensive but!

ask a shopkeeper or an expert to restore them
& buying a new memory card will b a better option
