okay well i got a new digital camera for my birthday. and when i try to take close-ups with the flash it goes completly white i mean really white and i told my mom and she said it might be able to be fixed but i dont think so i told her i`m just gonna save my money up and buy a new one from wal*mart that can take close-ups, but she got all mad and i told her it was my money and she just tried to change the subject, but anyways i dont wanna spend my money if it can be fixed, so help, its a Aiptek Pocketcam 3 Mega

thanks in advance

Turn the flash off. That's what's causing the white-out. You're giving the camera too much light and it can't compensate properly. If your close up pictures are too dark, try adding in a regular light, like a desk lamp. You may get slightly off color photos from the off-color light, but it's better than what you have now.

Use a tripod or other stabilizer for close-up photography. If your camera has a shutter priority mode, try playing around with that.

And for Pete's sake, DON'T got to Wal-Mart for camera advice. Find a Ritz or Wolf Camera in your area. The are guaranteed to have the same or lower prices than Wal-Mart, and you'll get face-to-face advice you can trust.
