I've been looking into buying the Kodak Easy-Share V570 digital camera...?

...Does anyone have any opinions that may be helpful in making my decision?

The advantages of the V570 are that they can take wide angle pics, it has 3x optical without the lens coming out, and that it is a nice thin camera with a big screen.

Personally, that is not enough to justify the price for me. That may exactly what you are looking for. I would personally be looking at other Kodak first. The P850 is a LOT more camera (of course, it is a lot bigger). You can now find the P850 for around $300 now (it dropped in price in past week or two).

I don't know how somebody went through two of that camera in a year and a half when the camera came out just a few months ago. Nobody has been making digital cameras longer than Kodak. With a one year parts and labor warranty, and more experience at what they do, I tend to trust Kodak as much as anybody. Many people feel that because Kodaks are easy to use, and that more people have Kodaks, that they must be of inferior quality.

As far as buying a $199 HP printer so that you can print pics at home, you CAN do that... I just don't know if it has that many advantages. Inkjet printers lose quality over time. Photo paper and ink are expensive. You can print real photo prints that you have edited at your local photo lab for a lot less than printing at home. If you want to print at home, I would recommend a thermal ink printer like the Kodak line, or a Canon Selphy. They will produce a higher quality print than any inkjet printer.

(I stand corrected regarding the length of time that Kodak has been making digital cameras. Apparently, the Sony Mavica came out first. Kodak was the first to produce Megapixel sensors.)

My mother-in-law went through 2 in about 1 1/2 years and finally got a canon...

Buy a camera that fits your needs. You don't need anything super fancy unless you're a professional photographer. I bought an Easy Share for my small online business and taking general family photos, and I'm very happy with it. The more megapixels, the sharper the picture, of course- 4 megapixels produces a pretty sharp picture. Beyond that, maybe someone in the photography biz can let you know what you really need, and not what a salesman is just trying to get out of you!

ok...
you need to know that it will be alot better to buy HP printer for $199 or something like that and a good DG-camera for 4MP or more that will be like $500 but you will have you own photo lab plus you can scann and copy and print all what you need and something you need to know that if you makea video with that camera and burn it on a Cd it will never work on anyother computer dont have Kodak Easy Share..
good luck.

To correct a couple things R Metro said. . .

The print heads on HP printers are on the ink cartridges themselves, so the statement that they will lose quality over time is just false. Also, click on the link below to see an independent test done to see what both amateurs and professionals think of HP printers against photo lab prints and other home printers including that Canon Selphy that was mentioned.

Another thing that was mentioned was that no one has been making digital cameras longer than Kodak. This statement is just plain WRONG! In fact, the opposite is true. Kodak was almost dead before they decided that they have to get into the digital game in order to survive. They are one of the last players in the game to get into Digital Cameras.

As to your concerns about the camera, I'd buy the camera from someplace like Walmart where you can try it out and return it before 90 days if you don't like it. I don't think their stores carry the camera, but you can always buy online and then return it to one of their stores.
