Do I need a high speed memory card to take videos with my digital camera?

I recently purchased a Panosonic DMC-FX01 digital camera and need to know which memory card I should buy to go with it i.e. 1 GB or 2 GB High Speed or not High Speed. I'm leaning towards the 2 GB High Speed but only if it improves the quality of the videos otherwise I thought I'd get the 1 GB. Any advise or recommendations would be appreciated.

You absolutely do no need a high speed memory card with a camera like that. High speed memory cards are for use in digital SLR cameras for when they are shooting in RAW mode. The files for these are quite large and take a long time to move from the memory buffer into the memory card. If the buffer is full because the process is backed up, the photographer must wait until some of those files are removed from the buffer and placed in the memory card. A high speed memory card makes that much less likely to happen. It will NEVER happen with a camera like yours so you don't need to spend so much for a high speed card.

Also, 2 gig is way too large a memory card for a 6 megapixel camera. Unless you plan to leave a couple hundred or more photos stored in your camera, you don't need that. A better choice would be a 1 gig card, of the regular variety:

Panacea is correct that a high-speed card is not needed for photos. However, for videos, Panasonic recommends a high speed memory card. A 2GB memory card will allow you to shoot more videos/photos, but not improve the quality of the video.

Hi, perhaps you can also try google picasa.

picasa is a Google's photo software. It's what should've come with your camera.

It can Edit , organise and Share you picture and small video flips.

It's very easy to use and is free, just like Google
