Is it a lost cause for my digital camera?

My kids accidentlly put my digital camera in the washer machine and washed it. Right now its coming on and showing the directions and stuff, but no image is coming on the screen. Its a 5 mega pixel Vivitar Camera. I really love this camera and it was on sale when i bought it and they are making it anymore. Should i consider it a lost cause and not try to wait until completely dry out and just buy another one that's going to cost me at least $30 or $40 more? If someone can help me I will be very happy

I hope so, because my Olympus digital took a bath in my kitchen sink for less than 2 seconds. I have the same problem after I dried it out completely; the menus work, it takes pictures and puts them on the memory card, but the digital screen is shot. Mine's been completely dry for 2 weeks.

I wish I could tell you different but it is probably a lost cause. Electronics and water just don't mix as much as we would like it if they did.

I would also say that your camera is definitely dead...There is no way that a camera can survive submersion in a washing machine.
Perhaps you should think about buying an Olympus camera in future. The latest model is waterproof up to 33ft...and also shockproof, crushproof and freezeproof!
Sounds like the perfect camera...if you have KIDS!
