Is there any extended warranty that would cover dropping a digital camera off a boat? |
Say the camera was bought online from Amazon and was $310 and had a $40 memory card. If the camera was accidently dropped or knocked into the water at a lake and it was too deep to recover. Is there any extended warranty that would have covered a replacement? Extended warranties typically cover defects in workmanship and materials, but not necessarily dropping the product off a boat. You'd need a different type of warranty for that. i am so sorry to tell you this, but that will void the warranty. None that I have heard of. Usually you have to buy those in advance like an insurance policy and most of the time you have got to have the item that was in the accident, for example my laptop from dell has accidental replacement like if something happens to it but I have to send in the damaged laptop if I want a replacement... You're not looking for a warranty, you are looking for insurance. The good news is that IF you were to recover the camera, take out the batteries and rinse the card in fresh water, there is a chance you can save the images. Some places like Circuit City or Best Buy sell "all peril" coverage that would cover this type of accident, but it costs about 1/3 the cost of the camera. If you had a crystal ball to tell you that you WILL drop your next camera off a boat, you might think it would be wise to pay that much for the insurance. no this is seen as misuse, however you may find that the mem card still works |
