Digital Camera memory chip? deleted photos re-appearing!?

Hi I am always getting new digital cameras, trying to find the perfect one and usually buy and sell them second hand.

I just got one and even though there were no pictures on the camera when I plugged it into the computer there were some from the previous owner. They are definitely nowhere to be found on the actual camera (not in a different folder etc)

MY question is not about the photos appearing though, my question:
If I was to sell my camera is there a way that pictures I have took will appear on someone elses computer?
Are there parts inside the camera or the memory card like a computer where you can access photos which have been deleted? Recover lost data or whatever. Thanks.

What??? Probably the memory card has to be reformatted.

the chip might be write protected

well, i don't how that can happen, other than the owner setting up folders for that camera's internal memory...OR using a different camera's memory card to temporarily transfer pictures from that card to the camera. for instance, you have a kodak camera and your friend has a canon camera...both use the same memory card type...if you put that canon's card in the kodak's camera to transfer a picture taken using the canon camera...is it spossible that the picture (or video) gets "corrupted" because of the somewhat incompatible systems...so, you might or might see that picture in the camera's lcd, but you will when you transfer them to a computer...does that make any sense?

now, is it possible to recover deleted pictures from a camera's internal memory? yes...it is possible, but you'd need special software and patience to do it...

if you're worried about leaving pictures in a camera of your own that you're selling, then make sure, you delete all pictures from the camera...manually...and if still unsure, plug it in to your computer, and if there are pictures, you'll transfer them to your computer, BUT make sure you check the "delete pictures from my device" box...that way, after the pictures are uploaded to your computer, they will be deleted.

Every camera is a little different, that said most cameras only save the pictures to the memory card. Although it is unlikely for anyone to try and recover photos from a memory card or stick that has been used portions of it remain and can be recovered. But if you deleted the pictures out and sold the camera. I think the odds are you are safe. If you did not delete the pictures of the flash stick (memory stick, card) well then you might find them on the internet someday.

u know what i'm not really sure,,i've had a few digital cameras and i have never had that problem before,,,but u can call Best Buy store and talk to the technician and see what they say,,good luck

THEY HAVE A MEMORY CHIP INSIDE BEFORE YOU SELL THE CAMERA FORMAT IT ALS YOU MAY HAVE TO FORMAT THE SD CARD AS WELL

Hi,the pictures are stored either on a memory card or in the internal memory of a camera if,there is one.So delete pictures if any present in the camera. It solves your problem
