About digital cameras?

Ok so christmas is coming and I want to buy a digital camera.
I really like photographic art and I want to get more into it,maybe even make a career in it.Anyway I don't really know much about digital cameras and they're properties and features so I need help in learning what makes a camera good.
I'd really appreciate a link to website or webpage that tells everything about digital cameras,pixels,optical/digital zoom and stuff like that.

A canon A540 seems to be a great camera that is affordable. Check it out. They go for around $200

i suggest you read the classic articles from Ken Rockwell's site and and also dont forget to click on the "digital" link to direct you to some digital glossaries and basics. enjoy and happy shooting!!

I know Christmas is only 3 wks away; but if you can learn as much about digital cameras as you can. Maybe borrow book from library, look at different Web sites on photraphy, you can also learn a lot at Yahoo answers. If you have a friend into cameras, ask whatever you don't understand; maybe use their camera for a week-end. If after all this you find that you really want to LEARN photography instead of just point and shoot, I suggest comparing digital single lens reflex (SLR ) cameras. You never mentioned how much you want to spend. You may buy a $200 camera at first, but if you really want to get into photography, you will wind up buying a slr in the long run.

To get the max out from the camera, you need one which support the RAW format. See sample: http://www.photo96.com/tr/ps/raw_01.htm
The best and will become to the most popular digital camera is Canon Digital Rebel XTi: http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?i...

try to check this site. looks helpful to me. i do have my own digicam, and so far the feature i like best is the camera's capability to focus (macro) on the tiniest thing and the big screen...so far so good. and easy upload.

I think pcworld.com is one of the best places to get information on just about any electronic or computer item.

We just bought one they recommended and are SO happy with it. We bought it from Home Shopping Network because you have 30 days to try it and that meant if we didn't like it we could send it back without having a restocking fee like Best Buy and some of the other eletronic stores. QVC does the same thing, you just can't beat being able to test it out for almost 4 weeks to ensure you like it!
