Will a magnet hurt a digital camera?

I bought a camera case online, and it's really great, except it closes with a magnet, and I'm worried about it hurting the lcd screen or actually messing up the camera itself.

While strong magnetic fields won't damage the camera itself, they can erase the contents of memory cards. Avoid putting your camera or spare memory cards right next to very strong magnets such as stereo speakers. Camera bag magnets are small and not very powerful, I wouldn't worry about those. If it was an industry problem, the leading camera manufacturers (such as Canon and Olympus) would not make bags with magnetic clasps for all their high end compact digital cameras.

the magnet on the case should not be strong enough to harm the camera, just make sure the screen, and the memory card are on the opposite side of the magnet.

no at time

no! you should be fine! But the memory might! not sure how it effects it! but id becarful! its like a Magnet on a HDD!
