The question my friend will be, what is your exact price range? Or do you want the best price for your money? Remember you might get a 70$ camera but that's like throwing your money in the trash can as cameras at that price range are horrendous by today's standards. Anyway instead of giving you a FAIRLY INEXPENSIVE solution I'll give you SMART solutions then you decide :). I'll try to keep them on the 100-200$ range.

Happy Hunting.

ebay, local pawn shop or the local "penny saver" or "buy lines" type newspapers for your city

Kodak has an Ebay store. They sell refurbished and reconditioned digital cameras with a 1 year gurantee straight from Kodak. I bought one last week and saved about $50 off brand new. They may have actually been refurbished and some may just be store returns where the box was opened and never used. Take a look at eBay and see their store!

Two great websites to check would be www.dpreview.com and www.epinion.com. I believe dpreview is the better website in terms of information about each camera's specifications. You'll need epinion.com to do searches based on price. Epinion.com also has user reviews which are very useful.

Go with the Fugi A500. It has 5 megapixels, and very good on batteries. Should make excellent 5X7s. Beach Camera in New Jersey selling it for $95- don't forget there's that memory card to buy as with all digital cameras

The best camera for under $200 is the Canon A550

* Very good photo quality, noise levels low through ISO 400 (in good light)
* Well built for the price
* Very good performance
* LCD visible in low light
* Some manual controls
* AF-assist lamp, good low light focusing
* Good movie and continuous shooting modes
* Impressive software bundle
* Uses AA batteries; great battery life
* USB 2.0 High Speed support

if you're looking for a point-and-shoot, try samsung's digimax s800. i think the market price is around $200. pretty decent, and great value for money. not to mention 8.1 megapixels, compact size and nice design.

if inexpensive is your thing, i'd recommend you avoid canon, nikon or sony. they're very good cameras, don't get me wrong. it's just that quality comes at a price.

Lost Soul had a good suggestion,
however, the Fuji F20 will blow it away. For $150 you get a camera that will have 2-3 stops better high ISO performance, with silkly smooth, low noise images at low ISO that rival the look of a DSLR.

It's responsive, has an AF assist light too, a big 2.5" LCD, and comes with a real rechargeable battery, so you don't need to be messing with AA's. (which, granted, some who travel prefer)

Recommendation: I recommend Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W5 if you want a cool yet capable camera with 5.1-megapixel resolution and huge LCD screen that produces excellent photos with print sizes of up 11x14 inches. It is extremely fast and easy to use.

You could try browsing the half price (or less) Amazon cameras at
