What kind of digital camera should i get? which brand? how many mega pixels? thanks!!?

details please!!! i am looking to buy a camera around $200-250, i want something good, for everyday use.

The funny thing is i used to sell digital cameras while i was in high school. Well the type of camera you want depends on what your trying to use it for. If you want an easy to use camera Kodak would be the best since all the features are pretty easy to use. Sony is pretty good but the prices are usually high plus it's probably the most complicated out of all the brands out there. Olympus is good if you travel a lot and you need a durable camera that wouldn't break easily. The one i really liked is the Casio Exilm. You can check out the cameras at http://exilim.casio.com. As for megapixels, 3-4 should be suitable for everyday use. You don't really need anything higher than that unless you work on a lot of projects that require you to blow up the picture. The quality of a standard sized photo won't be that much different from a 3 megapixel compared to anything higher than that. You only need more megapixels if you want bigger photos or a poster. I hope i was able to help, oh and whatever you do, avoid hp cameras. They are a piece of crap.

Oh and one more thing. Make sure you get a camera with at least 3x optical zoom.

I just bought a panasonic Lumix, it's $170-$200 and takes excelent pictures. for instance, go to myspace.com/the_beat_head the default pic was one that I took of my boyfriend when he was playing poker! It's a great camera, better than the Nikon I had! Go to any Circut City, they should have it! Also, it's 7.2 MP, and has focus finder which makes the pic pretty clear even if you're shaking!

Get a Nikon Coolpix L12. It's about $150. You'll have enough to get a big memory card for lots of pictures. This camera takes images with amazing quality, has a 7 megapixel sensor, a bright 2.5 inch LCD and it's pretty small to fit in a purse or pocket, so it'll be perfect for every day use.

About a month ago, I bought a Sony DSC-W35 Cybershot camera and I am very pleased with the pictures I have taken so far(both indoors and outdoors). It is a nice pocket sized camera with 7.2 Mega Pixels(although you could shoot at lower resolutions). It has a Carl Zeiss lens with an optical zoom of 3X and should meet your budget expectations.

i'm surprised no one recommended canon. the powershot A570 IS is a pretty good camera, and it comes with image stabilization and an optical viewfinder. i'm a big fan of the powershot A series, myself. at ISO 100 or 200, the pics are nice and clean, and the auto setting rocks as does the video quality. if you don't really need image stabilization and plan to shoot in auto a lot, the canon powershot A550 is also pretty nice.

another contender might be the kodak Z712. i know kodak has a rep as mostly a "family" camera, but this one has image stabilization and a nice long zoom.

unless you're planning to print over 8x10, 6 megapixels should be fine. remember - more megapixels on the same size sensor can mean more noise, so sometimes less megapixels means a cleaner image.
