Does anyone know roughly how many pictures can be held on a 6 MP camera?

Im gonna go and buy digital camera soon and i have NO CLUE how many pictures one MP holds-----IM COFUSED!! plz help

MPs are the quality or graininess of the photo. What you are looking for is MBs which is the amount of data your picture card can handle. Many cameras come with a picture card that has about 32 MBs (I believe about 50 pictures). You can purchase a memory card that has, say, 256 MB, for under $50. This will give you enough memory to hold a couple of hundred pictures. Hope this helps!

It all depends on the size of your memory card.

If your memory card is 1 gigabyte, you can hold roughly 300 photos with a 6 megapixel camera.

A megapixel does not hold anything. It's a unit.

a MP is not how much memory it has.
A MB/GB is how much memory it has.

MP refers to the number of pixels the sensor has. The more there are, generally the better quaility the images will be.

Most 6 mp cameras produce high quality images at about 3 to 4 MG each. Depending upon how large your memory card, the menu screen will tell you how many images are on a fresh card.

The cost of cards had dropped a lot since a 256 card cost $50. I recently purchased a 2GB (equal to eight of the 256 cards) for $22.

You can buy a memory card with various capacity like, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB etc. Roughly you can take about 200 pictures in a 256 MB SD card(memory) with a good picture quality.
