What is the top 5 good quality name brand for digital camera?

I want to buy my girlfriend a digital camera for christmas and don't know what brand is good.

Canon is known to be the best, Samsung, Kodak, Nikon. make sure you get a 5 MP or better to get that good quality picture. anything less then a 5MP takes crappy pictures...

Kodak and HP make very easy to use cameras. If she she just wants to archive pictures on her compueter (and not print them out), either of those would be great. Make sure the camera has an optical zoom though.

Most other manufacturers are decent as well - Canon, Olympus, Sony, Casio, Fuji, Nikon. Stick with any of those and you'll be fine.
