Thinking about buying a new digital camera. which brand would you guys recommend?you need to give some more information. Each brand makes a few different lines (i.e. qualities) of camera, and often their low priced ones aren't as good as their better ones.
For instance, Fuji make some really top quality cameras, but only if you buy their F-series compacts or their S-series zooms. Their A series, which is their cheap line, isn't any thing special.
Canon's A-series, which is their cheaper line, is really pretty good and reasonably priced. But, if you want one of their compact SD series cameras, you'll pay a bit more. They're OK, but only 'competitive' with other brands.
I like the panasonics. Especially the ones that have the leica lenses on them. Excellent image quality and their FX series has a great wide angle lens that goes to 28mm effective... very handy.
Sony's are good as well but you often pay a bit extra for the brand name. For instance, the T100 is a great camera, but it's $400.
The very best deal in digicams...i.e. best image quality for the price, would undoubtably be the Fuji F20 which can be had for under $150, and that's before the $30 rebate Kodak EasyShare V1003! It has 10 megapixels and 3x zoom, and it costs less than $250! You can get it at Wal-Mart and a lot of other places! I just bought a Canon Powershot digital........FABULOUS canon

digital camera GUIDE
be sure to check titles on the left side
the guide should answer your questions Canon
If you're on a budget check out the A460
If you can spend close to $200 check out the A550..
In either case you'll be happy with your purchase. Depents on what type of Camera you are looking for.
Is it a simple point or shoot, or something more advanced like a Digital SLR
For point and shoot i'd recommend the Sony. I've had 3 Sony up till now, (Dsc P50, T7, and now Dsc S600) really realiable, and great quality photos
DSC S600
6MP
(31mm) Wide angle-view
Carl Zesis lens
AA batteries so that you can use it anywhere, I've brought Re-Chargeable one which last for ages.
2Gb Card (holds 700 pics) max quality
Pocketable
and the lens slide in for protection when swiched off
