Which camera should i buy & carry ?

i am going on a holiday trip abroad and would like to buy and carry either a digital camera or a video camera. Which one would you suggest and why ?

It depends upon how much post production you are willing to do when you get back.

Editing video can 1) cost a lot because of the special equipment needed and 2) the time involved to edit an interesting video (figure ten to fifteen hours of edit time for every hour of tape shot).

Editing image files from a digital camera is just a matter of sorting out the out of focus, over/under exposed images and other images you don't like and then sorting the rest into subject, location or people shots and placing them in file folders. You can go through about two hundred images an hour.

I went on a nine and a half week sail in the Caribbean last summer and shot all stills. I didn't have the urge to shoot one cassette of tape.

i suggest if you want to record alot, brign the vid cam, and if you want to take more pics, bring d camera

I just got back from Europe and had a Canon SD 1000..$225.00 range..from B&H in NY..it is easy to use. Very small and had a 1gb SD card and an extra battery...buy the case for your belt..it holds the extra stuff. Charger comes with it and works on 240V..just get a converter plug for the country you are in.(from usa 2 prong to 2 round pins for example)
