I plan on buying a new digital camera tomorrow but I don't know much?

I plan on spending about $250-$300. I don't know what to look for and which brand is better. I want a camera that can take great pictures as well as record mini videos. Any suggestions?

I have an Olympus SP500uz with 10X zoom and it does videos. I've had mine now a couple of years so the price should have come down to about where you want to spend. I use mine alot in my business because sometimes my comparable homes are too far away to photograph from the street. :}

some reasons why
3" viewing screen compared to most other camera with 2.5"
takes excellent video
has no stabilizer but takes quick photos so blurry pic is rare.
can take those pic..where everything is black and white except the rose..it's red
user friendly
small enough to fit in your pocket.
rechargeable battery
etc. etc. I could go on and on.

1. Don't focus on zoom.
2. Don't focus on megapixels.
3. Get one with a rechargeable lithium ion battery, instead of regular batteries.
4. Get a big memory card with it.
5. Don't worry about brand. I like some Fujifilm cameras (F10, F30) but some others (the ones that start with A) are junk.
6. For videos, make sure it's 640 by 480 or more at 30fps.

Well, get a camera that is 4 pixels and higher. I got a Sony digital camera for about $320, it's great. It takes nice clear pictures, it has 7.2. mega pixels, it's good when taking pictures of objects in motion. The videos are great too. i recommend the Sony DSC-W80.
