Best to buy one of each. I bought a nice Olympus Camedia 4 megapixel one for $120 used. Very nice camera. As for a camcorder for $100 that's more of a gamble as it has a lot more moving parts than a camera. I would save up and buy a new camcorder. Spend $6 and get a one month's online subscription to consumer reports and do a lot of research to see what would meet your needs. They make digital camcorders with built in hard drives.
