Is there a digital camera that takes great videos?

I don't have a digital camera nor a video camera. I want to know if there is a digital camera I can buy which takes such good videos that I won't need to buy a video camera as well.

You might be better off buying a video camera that takes stills. Video on a digital camera is highly compressed and does not look that good in my opinion. You can get a decent video camera for under four hundred dollars that would take decent stills. I like the Canon ZR series myself.

They take Mini DV tapes, and produce a high quality image, are small in size and some take memory cards.

You're never going to get video that's as good from a camera that's made to take still pictures as you will get from a true video camera. With that said, if you are wanting good video from a digital camera, there are really only two choices: Nikon or Sony.

However, you will need a huge memory card, because you'll need to use the 640x480 video setting, and that requires roughly 1GB per hour. I have a Sony, and I couldn't be happier with the video quality, compared to other digital cameras that I've seen video from.
