Anyone have any advice when it comes to buying digital cameras?

I am looking to buy a digital camera & need suggestions on a good & reliable camera that won't cost me a fortune!

Well, they are closing out all of last years cameras now so you can get a lot of good bargains.

8 MP 5x Schnieder Zoom from Kodak for $200 (the 875)
7 MP 12x Schinder zoom from Kodak for $250 (712)
The 5MP two lens ultra wide from Kodak for $200 (V570)
The 733 7MPKodak with 3x zoom and charging dock for $160
The 633/643/653 6 MP 3X for $120 from Kodak

The Nikon 4MP L4 for $130
The Nikon 6MP for $170

The 5MP Fuji A500 for $100

The Canon 6 MP 4X zoom A540 for $200

get the cheapest yet highest shots

Vivitar make some of the best digital cameras around with high quality images and good looking machines at a lower price than some competitors such as Canon. I would strongly advise you to buy this camera if you are a novice at photography as for the price, you can't go wrong on photo quality.

The only good and reliable brand that I usually recommend is Canon.
They make some excellent cameras and yes, some aren't too cheap, but you pay for what you get.

Their only cheapest model that I would recommend, but which also has great photo, movie & build quality and features is the very popular ultra compact, SD600.
You would also need to buy a fast SD card (Sandisk Ultra II is excellent and should be quite cheap now).

Or another option is the A540 which is much cheaper (but still takes great quality photos).

The SD600 should be available for between $210-240...but I'm not sure what your budget is.
good luck...

I totally agree with the Canon sd600 as the best chioce at around $200. it will never let you down.

The one thing I can recommend to you no matter what brand you decide to go with or what pixel count is this: Get one with an optical zoom. Ignore digital zoom. Digital zoom magnifies the image at expense of pixels, turning your fancy 8MP camera into a 6 or 4 MP camera. Optical zoom uses the lens to change magnification just like in traditional film cameras so that you don't lose pixels.

Other than that, get the most megapixels you can for you money. Most of the name brands make good cameras. I have a Canon that I'm very happy with, but Nikon, Pentax, Sony, Fuji, Vivitar, all make good cameras.

I recommend the canon power shot a540 it has huge viewing screen and it takes great quality pics and it has a verying low price i got 1 for christmas and i love it

hope i can help<33

It depends on what you want to use it for.

An SLR camera will allow you to manipulate settings. If you're serious about photography, I'd go this route. It will be more expensive than a point-and-shoot, though.

If you can afford it, I'd actually get one of each. You can't go wrong with Nikon or Canon. Both make good quality cameras.

Go to a camera store like Wolf Camera. They can talk you through your options, and my experience with them has been very positive. I once had an employee try to talk me into a less expensive camera because he thought it would suit my needs better.
