Digital camera shutter speed?

i want to buy a 8mpixels digital camera, and one with a very fast shutter speed...so that i can take picture faster..my digital cam. takes a lot of time from one picture to another...and last thing about the optical zoom...what do you suggest?! selection from Sony Brand is preferred!

It sounds like the lag between pictures is the camera recycling its battery power. That time lag creats (sometimes 2 seconds or more) a waiting period while the camera recharges, stores the previously taken picture, and refocuses.

Still, a more expensive camera that is more efficient is the answer. The SLRs are the best, and I would vote for CANON firstly, but given SONY's reputation I'm sure their new SLR will be an excellent one. Get a review by going to www.dpreview.com for all recent digital cameras.

Get the SLR. Sony just came out with a really great SLR, but I forget the model designation. You will have virtually zero "shutter lag" and it probably has speeds up to 1/4,000 of a second or even faster. Don't accept my answer as the authority, but start looking in that direction.

you are talking about the digital camera shutter speed,if you are professional and know how to use than my suggestion is buy CANON IS the best brand.if you are thinking digital camera shutter speed is equall to light speed its dont happen.

Erm.... major mistake here, you dont take picture faster with fast shuttle speed. shuttle speed is about adjusting your speed to the requirement like lighting and effect. what you are asking is bout lag time, time lag between photographing.
A really short lag time would be D-SLR, but it is more for the professional, and it is more expensive. the lower range one that i know is from nikon and canon, about $2000 singapore dollar (erm.. bout US$1200). u can check out their website for more info.
for normal user, i suggest you can check out nikon or canon s digicam. reason being they are the pro at camera products, they know what is best for photographing. i own a canon powershot, the lag between pressing shuttle and capturing is short, i tried a sony cybershot, the capturing lag is very long! in between shots for my cam is reasonable too. for your infomation, my canon powershot is already 3+ years old, only a mere 3megapixel.

There's new Canon with, I believe a 1/2000th or higher speed. It's priced at $1400. It's their professional SLR.
