okie...i bought a Casino Exilim EX-Z70 on November 24, 2006 at SEARS with 2 years warranty...now it's like broken...the len doesn't come out like normal....i think i drop it once or twice on the sands...what should i do now? The fact that you capitalized Sears got my attention, as I also work at Sears in electronics. I work at one in Canada though, so the policies may differ though. In general, the warranties on digital and SLR cameras are through the manufacturer, not the retailer. I know that Sears itself doesn't offer their own warranties unless its a camcorder or higher. What you can do is take your receipt to the store and they will either refer you to a Sears warranty repair shop, or a close manufacturer's one. Worst case scenario is you'll have to ship the camera somewhere else to be have been taken a look at. If they can repair it, then great. If not, Sears or the manufacturer will usually just replace it as long as it is unfix-able as seen by the technicians. As for the fact that you dropped it in sand, just forget to mention that detail.... Warranty does not cover damage due to mishandling, but you may as well try to get it repaired. See your owners manual for proper warranty procedures. hey I work at sears. to be honest they are not customer friendly. if you passed the warranty then bummer nothing you can really do. You could go to a repair shop but normally they'll make you pay more than buying the camera itself. |
