Digital camera for dentists?

i want to buy a digital camera to take super close up snaps of teeth, for dental use, any body have any idea on this one? with good macros and optical zoom...
Kodak does a couple for dental use,but theyre too expensive for what they provide under the ''dental'' banner.

What is your budget? My suggestion would be an entry level DSLR such as the Canon 350D/Digital Rebel XT or Nikon D40 with a good macro lens and a ring flash.

The cheaper alternative would be a pocket camera that supports macro mode and also have ring flash adaptor.

Okay so the first thing to consider is lighting. Essentially, you need either a ringflash setup or a macro lighting setup.

take a look at this one:

The problem I immediately see for dental work is that the lighting system is somewhat far for an open mouth. Take a look at it in the stores though because it might adjust to where it's workable.

Next, try this Sigma lighting system:

Much better in terms of where the lights are, although the issue here is that Sigma has reverse-engineered the Nikon lighting system. But I think this lighting system is better, at least on viewing the design photos online.

Next, you need to consider lenses. A 105mm macro lens (Sigma and Nikon make these) or a 90mm Tamron macro lens (highly recommended!) will work fine. The 90mm Tamron has a 55mm filter size, which matches the adapter included with the Sigma ring light. If you want to zoom, physically move the lens back or move the lens closer. We're talking inches forward or back. Forget an optical zoom for macro work. I don't know of any high quality macros lenses that are also zooms. The best macro lenses are fixed focal length.

Finally, consider the camera body. I suggest the Nikon D40 or D40x. Plenty of camera for high quality shots. Not too expensive, either.

Thus: the recommendation:
D40 or D40x
90mm Tamron macro lens
Sigma i-TTL compatible or Nikon ringlight system.

On a real tight budget? Try this instead:
used Fujifilm S2 Pro (about $400)
90mm Tamron macro lens
Sunpak DX-12R (used)

Set the S2 Pro to spot metering, and you should get good flash exposures with this combo in macro work.
