Any SLR style model that will handle interchangeable ultra-telephoto lenses. Telescope mount capability would be highly suggested. The Pope lives very far away.

Paranoia just doesn't come out good on wide angle lenses unless you're really up close to a French mime or demonic clown.

Either way, you're set if you buy the more expensive SLR. Get a microscope mount, and you can photograph your blood cells aging and dying. That should satisfy the fear quotient.

Me, I'm still fanatically devoted to my old Pentax, its lenses, and Kodachrome 25. Though I covet my aunt's ancient Leica....

My personal like is the Canon Ixus range if it's for pocket use... and I'd probably buy a Canon EOS 400D but only cos I've got an EOS 300 film camera so I've got all the accessories and a load of lenses

Wait for Nimslo to re-enter the camera market in the digital world and buy one of them. It is a fearsome machine and you would have one lens for each weapon.
