Do I need to buy a new printer to accommodate my digital camera? (see additional details)? |
I have a Lexmark X63 all-in-one printer (discontinued by Lexmark), and it does not have a slot for a memory card for a digital camera. Am I better off just buying a new printer, or is it more cost effective to buy a photo printer? Two answers really. You can buy a card reader, fairly cheap, and attach it directly to your computer. Save files to the PC and then print them from there. Alternatively, if you want good quality prints, buy yourself a new photo printer with a card reader built in, or a direct USB port for Camera attachment. They are always coming down in price. Plug your camera into your computer. It will depend on the quality of the print you get from your printer. I upgraded to an HP PSC all in one for just that reason. The research I have done has convinced me that the only reason to buy a photo printer is if you want a small, portable photo printer to carry on vacations. Now you can print your digital pictures at pharmacies, over the Internet, stores like Kmart, Walmart or Target. Just take your memory card to the store and some of them give you discounted prices for 50 or more pictures, on line companies give you introductory free copies and they will have better quality than the ones you print at home, plus no need to cut them or get 4X6 photo paper sheets. Print your pictures from the computer. I have to warn you. Lexmarks do a horrible quality photo, even lexmark photo printers. |
