Help with DSLR cameras, which one to buy for a start?

I am interested in photography and planning to take some courses or sth but i dont know which camera to buy?
I'll be using it just as a hobby, nothing much so i think i need a simple thing.

would appreciate some advice :)

I agree that a DSLR isn't a simple thing, but it can be simple if you set it on AUTO and use that till you learn how to use the manual settings.

If you are really interested in learning photography, you can get a lot of enjoyment out of a DSLR even if you don't know the manual controls right away.

I have a Canon Rebel XTi and like it very much. I would suggest you go to a good camera store and look at some entry level cameras. Try them out and see how they feel in your hands. Also how easy it is for you to use the controls. That is the only way you can decide which is best for you! Have fun!

IMO you need to spend some time at dpreview.com. Read the LEARN/GLOSSARY section so you'll know all the terminology related to digital cameras. Then, read reviews of cameras in your price range.

You might find a camera from the Olympus Stylus SW series that would be of interest. Dropping and drowning are the leading killers of digital cameras* The SW series are shock proof to a five foot drop and water proof to 10 feet.

EDIT: I have based my answer on your statement "... nothing much so I think I need a simple thing." A DSLR is anything but simple.

Get the Nikon D40 or D40x if you can afford it.
