What is a good first time digital camera to buy for around 拢150?

I have just got a Kodak Easyshare camera C813.
It is 8.0 megapixels and got it for 拢60 reduced from 拢150 from Currys. UK
Its a really good camera for the price, I can use AA batteries in it and it takes good quality pictures really easily. It can also do short movie clips and you can choose different setting according to the type of picture you are taking or just use the auto mode.
It has auto flash or you can turn it off if you like.
It can be hooked up easily to your computer.
It takes SD cards which you need to buy if you want to store a lot of pictures but you can store pictures on its internal memory although you won't be able store very many.
It has 3x optical zoom and is quite compact in size but the viewing screen is a decent size.
All in all, I would recommend this camera as a first time buy.

i swear by Canon!

Canon Powershot SD900 or SD1000 are good. Look on epinions.com for a more complete review on cameras.

Go for Sony W80 7.2mp for around 拢135, or Sony W95 8mp for 拢150 both with double anti blur and face detections, good luck.

From experience choose a camera brand such as Pentax, Canon, Nikon, Konica Minolta etc as these always take the best pictures and are most reliable. Stupidly I just ignored my own advice and bought Sony DSC200 and it not only broke after seven shots but it is nowhere near as good as my previous cameras, Konica, Pentax or Nikon.
