Olympus E-510 with 14-42mm 40-150MM lenses at 拢450 or the canon 450d with 18-55mm lens which one would you buy

have read previous answers and the e 510 looks a great buy but the newer model is out next month so wondering wether to wait for that ,or is the 350 the better camera ?at 拢500

I own an Olympus E-510. It's a great camera and well worth the price.

What I like best is the Image Stabilization (IS) built in the body. That means all of your lenses have IS, not just certain lenses. Be aware it does make a noise when you turn the camera off with the IS on, it's normal. You can even input the focal length of manual focus and non Olympus lenses and have the IS work. That works great with a manual 400-800mm lens I have. And those longer focal length are when you really need it.

It's my second Olympus DSLR. The only reasons I decided to get a new one was for the IS and live view. The performance is great and competes with any other on the market in the same class, including the Rebel series. With two lenses, you will have more options and with money saved vs the 450D, you will be able to buy all those extras you need with any camera purchase.

If you are open to it, just wait for the E-520 to hit the stores, you should be able to find a good deal on the E-510 stock they still have and even better if you are willing to buy used.

The bottom line is that either of those cameras is a great choice. Personally, I like the better value from Olympus. Check out some reviews at dpreview.com.

No contest, the 450D is far more expensive and does not have a telephoto lens additionally. The Olympus set goes slightly wider and all the way to 300mm, for which you'd have to pony up an extra ~200 for the Canon. If you want a comparison, you'd have to get a 400D, which is better for the money than the 450D.

Also, the 520 is a very significant step up from the 510, so you'd have to consider that as well.

I don't know why all these people are hating on Olympus. It's better for less money in this situation, because whether or not the 450D is better than the Olympus, it can't go long here.

No contest, the Canon 450d is a far superior camera to the Olympus.

canon 450d because i looked at a 510 and it wasnt good at all.
