What is th difference between 7 and 8 megapixals?

i want to buy a new camera and i really dont what the difference is. like is one faster or does is take better pictures.im really confused!

The difference between these is small. Unless you are printing posters it's so small, you could not perceive it with your eyes. More mega pixels does not mean better quality, just a bigger image.

I can take a picture with a 10MP and a 5MP camera and have 5X7 prints made of each. You would not be able to tell the difference between them. Human eyes are just not that good.

If I printed a 15X21 image, then you could see a difference. That would be due to the fact that 5MP is not that large and the image would be blown up beyond its maximum.

The camera would likely record the 7MP image faster, meaning it would be ready for the next shot faster.

You are probably comparing two different brands of cameras. We can give you MUCH more help if you have some specific models in mind. Post a new question asking for a recommendation between 2 or 3 different cameras and you'll get some helpful answers.

No, there is not much difference between 7 and 8 MP and this would not be enough to choose one camera over another, especially considering the differences in lens quality, image quality, and other imprtant factors that vary from maker to maker.

when we speak of megapixels, we speak of the quality of a digital camera's sensor. A seven megapixel camera is a large sensor, and is capable of creating alot of color-reproduction, and reducing grain, thus sharpening the image. Seven megapixels allows you do shoot in more dimension with details and lets more be in focus. The megapixels refer to the amount of effective pixels on the camera's sensor.

eight megapixels is a step up, a few more effective pixels. and even more color reproduction, and grain reduction. As you go up, typically, the image quality goes up with it , they get better and better, but many megapixels can have some side-effect if you know what i mean. The seven and eight megapixels are about the same, but have little difference

But, truely and honestly, megapixels don't matter all of the time. Sometimes you'd see that you can get a better image of a six megapixel camera than a seven or eight megapixel camera. You should also factor price and quality with your purchase,.

there is very little difference you will not notice any. megapixels do not have much to do with image quality.

The marketing race for "more megapixels" would like us to believe that "more is better". Unfortunately, it's not that simple. The number of pixels is only one of many factors affecting image quality and more pixels is not always better. The quality of a pixel value can be described in terms of geometrical accuracy, color accuracy, dynamic range, noise, and artifacts. The quality of a pixel value depends on the number of photodetectors that were used to determine it, the quality of the lens and sensor combination, the size of the photodiode(s), the quality of the camera components, the level of sophistication of the in-camera imaging processing software, the image file format used to store it, etc. Different sensor and camera designs make different compromises.

What is the difference? 1 megapixel of course... LOL!

it;s the resolution higher the megapixel higer the image quality
