Digital Camera for Young Child?

Someone asked about buying a digital camera for a young child, but I can not find the question. Perhaps you got a good answer.

I just saw a Fisher Price "Kid Tough" Digital Camera in WalMart. It looked pretty cool for $59.99. It has internal memory, but also accepts SD memory cards. The LCD is only 1.3", but kids have better eyesight than you or I. What I especially liked about it was the binocular viewfinder and dual hand grip. It looks like a Gameboy with a lens. The picture size is 640x480. There are camera phones out there with better resolution, but we ARE talking about a toy for a child here...

Yes, I know this is not a question.

I appreciate the suggestions, but please understand that I am NOT looking for a camera. I posted this in response to an earlier question on the topic, but I can no longer find the question. Thanks, though.

You just gave me a great idea for a Christmas present for one of my children. Sounds great....Thanks!

if you want to give them cameras, give them film camera, because you can still control whatever they are picturing before posting on the Internet by taking yourself the film to develop

otherwise, kids can put pics directly on the net and God knows the weirdos there

Here is a non-answer for your non-question:

Sony makes awesome cameras, too y'know?

If you really want to go on the cheap, and the child doesn't care about image quality, an old JamCam could fit the bill. Drawbacks are it shoots 320x240, takes lousy photos in anything less than sunlight, and can burn through a 9volt battery quick with heavy use.

If you're technically inclined, Wallgreens, Long's, CVS, and Ritz Camera sells a $10 "disposable" digital camera that takes 24 1.3MP photos. With $10 of parts, you can build your own cable to download and reset the camera yourself. Search the web for "dakota camera" for more info.

But if you expect the camera to go through abuse, then I'd say go with the Fisher-Price one you found.

i saw at rite aid there was this digital camera for only 20 bucks. but the thing is its disposable.. but the cool thing about it is that you can also delete pictures on it too.
since its for a kid, i suggest you get this instead.
and just put some stickers on it to jazz it up for a kid friendly look.
