I have bought myself a pentax k110d today from jessop and it cost me 249 pounds. I was looking for buying the fuji6500 camera but the shop keeper keep telling me that that one is crap comapre to k110d. the 6500 has a non changable lens but it is a 28-300mm f2.8 lens which I think is very good for all type of photos.
On the other hand the pentax K110 would able me to switich with different lens.
The shop keeper told me that the k110 18-55mm f3.5 lens is much better than the fuji one and I stayed in the shop for more than 2 hours until they close so at the end I choosen the pentax one.
After I got home I have seen different reviews and sample photos shows me that the 6500 lens is not bad at all and most users say that is a very good camera. yes it is true that the k110 users also say that k110 is also a very good camera.
But I really would like to know which lens is better since the pentax one only have f3.5 but the fuji one got 2.8 as well as a huge range from 28-300mm. which lens can take sharper pictures?
which camera has the better vaule for money as I am only a student and can not afford to spend too much on cameras.
yes I would rather spend the extra 70 pounds which I did to my pentax one if it really take better photos but now I am wondering if this is the true case. If not I am going to refund it or exchange it with the 6500.
Can someone pls tell me more about these 2 cameras and make me have a better idea.
thank you! I agree with all three answers above. In the long run (if not immediately), you will be much happier that you own the SLR. fhotoace mentions sensor size, so in case you don't know why this is important, check out my tutorial on the subject. This example is for two 10 MP cameras, but the principle applies nonetheless.
Here is a mini-tutorial I made myself to compare 10 MP sensors in a digital SLR (DSLR) and a point and shoot (P&S) camera. I have tried to keep everything on equal footing with no unequal cropping of the original images. Both images were taken at the equivalent of 75 mm from about 1,000 feet away. View this FULL SIZE and scroll through the image to compare the resolution at various points of the images. To me, the P&S sensor practically looks like an impressionist painting compared to the DSLR sensor. Please note also that this is the "large size" P&S sensor, as most are using the smaller 1/2.5" (5x4 mm) sensor. The Fuji has the SMALLER 5x4 mm sensor, so the difference would be even greater than you see in my example. The Fuji would be that much WORSE than the Pentax in this case.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/7189769@N04... To answer which is better you would need to say what sort of photography you want to do, I'm sure both cameras are very good, was the fuji one more expensive? how much are the extra lenses you'll need for the pentax to get the same range of zoom? without doing a trawl through the net to check the specs of these cameras are they film or Digital? did you do any research into good prices for the camera before you bought it? and compare it with other similar makes? what made you originally want the fuji? The lens may be good, but it's only one factor. A DSLR like the Pentax give you instantaneous shots, unlike the Fuji which will have a shutter delay that may drive you crazy. On the Fuji, the picture is take seconds AFTER you press the shutterbutton.
The Pentax is also much, much more flexible, as it will take any K-mount lens and even the older screw mount lens with an inexpensive adaptor. To put it bluntly, the Fuji is good for today, but the Pentax is a camera you won't outgrow tomorrow. If you can afford it, buying a DSLR is always a better choice. No shutter lag, a huge choice in lenses, and while the pixel counts are the same, the Pentax has a much larger sensor
Being stuck with one lens is not what you ever want to do. Attention... the fujifilm finepix S9100 is not considered a point and shoot camera...this camera is an advanced camera...yes it does have a auto mode but if get this camera you are getting it because of the full manual control. the lens is a 10.7x lens(28-300mm) the sensor on the camera is
1 1/16" sensor and this camera takes some damn good pics... want to see the pics it can take:

take a look at these pics taken with the fuji then say what you have to say...
why should i have to buy a few thousand worth of lenses and lug them around and have to change them for the shots when i want when the 6500/ 9100 have the lens there and you only need to lug around the camera. to me if you want a reliable camera try the 9100 over the 6500...the camera guy is trying to make more money because you will need to buy alot of lenses to equal the lens on the camera...later in life if i want to move upto a DSLR and have a few thousand to spend on it i will knowing that i will have the experince then...also does the pentax take video like the fuji can? No
the pentax lowest ISO is 200??? why would i not want a fuji with a ISO of 80???
oh and doc...why not use a review taking the same settings on each camera...
the k110 is only a 6.1mp where as the 9600/9100 fuji is 9mp |
