Hi! I am learning on how to work a video camera at work. But I don't know how to read lens specifications. For example this camera that I am using is A12x10BRM, what is that mean? Some lens I see it says 38mm-380mm Can someone teach me what that means. thanks Well, I think the A12x10BRM is a model number or series number, it doesn't tell you anything.
The 38mm-380mm tells you that this lens has an optical zoom of 10X. Just divide 380 by 38 = 10. If you had one more piece of information, the sensor size in particular, you could get the field of view from that information.
Also, you need to know if those are the true minimum and maximum focal length or have they been converted for you to 35mm equivalent. Based on the numbers in your example, I believe this is the case, so the numbers probably take into account the sensor size and you can calculate the field of view from that.
