Good wide angle lens for Nikon cameras?

Good wide angle lens for Nikon cameras?

A very popular lens if the Nikon Zoom Super Wide Angle AF 12-24mm f/4G ED-IF AF-S DX lens. Not cheap. $910 at B&H. Rockwell's discussion includes other brands.

How wide do you want to go?
I bought the Tamron 11-17mm lens, and I'm quite pleased with it. I don't use it that much though, I have to admit.
From about 14-17mm, the images are quite flat. The barrel distortion is quite noticeable at the edges at the lower focal lengths, but it's what you'd expect out of a ultra-wide angle lens.

Like Dr. Sam says ... the 12-24mm is a hot ticket. I used one on a nine and a half week cruise in the Caribbean. I loved it, yet at times I wish I had included a 10.5mm fish-eye when under-sail.

It performs well when shooting landscapes and architectural. I highly praise this zoom lens.
