How does a camera lenses works?=P? Lenses work because light bounces off of everything and heads away from those things in straight lines. Then glass (what the lens is made of) has a different refraction index, meaning that as the light goes from the air to the glass, it bends slightly. The same effect can be seen with water, where peoples legs look strange underwater in a pool, like they're attached at the wrong angle or appear shorter than they should. They focus the light reflected off a subject and focus it on the film (sensor). All lenses do this. Some magnify the image (telephoto lenses) and other "see" up to 180 degrees of the view in front of the camera Some has a 220掳 angle of view. A modern camera lens actual consists of a number of lenses. These are called elements. Think of a series of magnifying lenses with different focal lengths. |
