In a digital camera where are the number of megapixels stored and can you change it by buying a new lens? The megapixel count of a camera refers to the resolution of the image taken which is saved into a digital file. You cannot change the number of megapixels your camera can process. Although if you buy a new lens, you may experience better image quality. This is not due to an increase in megapixel count, but the new lens probably has a greater quality and sharpness than the old lens. Lenses can only be interchanged in Digital SLR cameras. You can find the number of megapixels onthe front of the camera usually. The only way to change it (easily) is to buy a new camera. The megapixels range from 1-13 which is the millions of pixels the CMOS sensor in the camera can process. |
