I have a lens for my 35mm camera and i can't tell if it is broken or not.? |
When I adjust the aperture it doesn't seem to get bigger or smaller. I don't have it attached to my camera for fear of overexposing a new roll of film. Any ideas to see or tell if it is broken? Thanks. http://www.amazon.com/Tamron-Autofocus-7... Take test pictures and get them developed. Or if you have a digital SLR available in the same brand, then try the lens on it and you will get results right away. i think its broken Except for very old (early fifties) all 35mm cameras do not close the aperture of the lenses until just before the shutter opens. There should be a "depth of field preview" button somewhere on the front of your camera near the lens mount which will manually actuate the aperture. You have not told us if this lens has an elctronic aperture. if it has then it should set the appropriate aperture automaticly when the shutter is fired. In any case when your lenses are not fitted on the camera they dont close the iris as you move the aperture ring. If your lens is the older type set the aperture to the minimum and move the little lever on the rear-end of the lens. This will allow you to see if the Iris is moving inside the barrel Put the lens back on your camera. |
