To be honest. I don't know. What I can say is like most technology products, it is more likely more cost effective to buy new than to repair. Of course, there is a chance that your item can be repaired for little money. Just not likely.
heres my suggestion. Go to Minolta's website, click on tech support or whatever they call it. Enter your camera model and seach for FAQ for that model. See if it needs a soft or hard reboot. Maybe it is software problem. You can find a lot on info this way. If that doesn't work, email them. They should contact you in a couple of days.
I have never heard of this happening, but I hear it is possible for the electric motor that powers the lends to stop working. Matter of fact, Circuit City's extended warranty specifically covers this damage with a free replacement. This tells me 2 things. 1) it can happen and 2) it is costly to repair. Just note Circuits warranty will issue a giftcard in the amount you paid for the camera if it is not repairable. So you will be limitied to purchasing form Circuit again if you choose this route in the future.
Good luck. I am hoping it is something easily fixed. Sorry to hear about the misfortune.
At any rate, you are probably better to simply buy a new camera- with a warranty!
Else, you might try a good, firm rap with a hammer and see if that will do the trick. |
