Dropped digital camera while zoom lens out, who expensive will it be to have it fixed, if it can be fixed? |
Dropped digital camera while zoom lens out, who expensive will it be to have it fixed, if it can be fixed? Really only a professional repair firm can tell. I had a problem with my Olympus, and sent it to the Australian repair centre. They did not charge for the assessment, but the camera was beyond economical repair. They did offer a discount if I chose to buy a similar model again from them, but that just got enough off their recommended retail price to make them competitor with the prices in retailers anyway. If it can be fixed, the price will depend a lot on what camera you have. There is a slight variation between camera manufacturer's when it comes to repairs. On average you are probably looking at between $100-$200. My best guess is closer to the top end of that range. Most camera stores or repair facilities will give you an estimate before they do any work. Sorry, but I don't think it can be repaired. I know someone at work who also dropped their camera while the lens was out. The company had it put in for repair, and they said it was shot. That it would cost more to fix than just get a new one. Good luck with things. Tricky, it's usually the owner's expense. But if it's not obvious and still under warranty, try contacting the manfacturer. It doesn't hurt. they charge $150 |
