Hey Im about to purchase the Nikon D50 and Im also going to buy a lens for it and Im going to be shooting a lot of sports with this camera so I was just wondering which lens do you suggest I should purchase for the Nikon D 50 body? Here is a page of the possible lenses I want to choose from.
http://www.wolfcamera.com/webapp/wcs/sto... Of the lenses on the Wolf Camera page, this one is the best for the money:
Nikon 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 'G' Autofocus Zoom Lens
Mfr # 1928
Our Stock # 541532883
It is made by Nikon; has the same F4 that the others has; better optics than Quantaray and 300mm for those long shots.
I hope this helps! If you're shooting a lot of sports, expect to pay for a good lens, especially if you're shooting outdoors, because you need (a) a big lens (i.e. 300 mm or more) and (b) a "fast" lens (one that opens very wide to let lots of light in). For example, the 70-300mm recommended above is a f/4-f/5.6, which is not very fast. That means there will have to be a lot of light (i.e. brightly lit indoor) OR you will really have to boost the ISO so that you can get enough light for the shutter speed to be quick (probably somewhere at 1/250 sec or so).
