What would be a good standard lens for a rebel g camera by canon?

Rebel G camera by canon, maunual and automatic controls, has no lens included.
I'm inexperienced when it comes to film cameras, I need some help figuring out lenses?

The 50mm f1.8 can be had for around $100 and is sharp as a razor.

If you are talking about a 35mm camera, a "normal" lens would be a 50mm lens. Higher than that is telephoto, lower is wide angle. Often the Rebels are sold as kits with a zoom lens included, usually something like 28mm-90mm.

rule #1. Lenses are not cheap, standard lense would be 50mm 1.4 opening #2. Film works this way, high speed film is good for sports, and action shots, 400asa to 800 asa, the slower the film speed,the more detail your prints will be, if you use your camera for doing portraits, ask for matt finish to have it developed. # telephoto lenses are good, for sports and nature.Get a zoom lense and you really have fun. The 28-80mm or 28-90mm are both great all around lenses for the Rebel G. The camera, when bought as a kit, usually comes with the 28-80. The 28-90 is a second generation. They are bth affordable too.

I would get a wide angle lens, they are more versatile, and since we see in wide angle, it might be easier to use in the long run.

I love wide angle lenses, but if you are just going to own one lens, it wouldn't be my choice. I have tons of lenses but recently was in an auto accident and can't carry my camera bag for the next 6 months (YIKES!). I purchased a canon 35-200 mm. I wasn't sure I would like it, the quality of zooms is not as good as prime lenses and this was a cheaper lens because I knew that it would be temporary, but I have to admit.... I am very pleased with the results and recently won best of show with a pic I took with that lens. I can recommend it without any reservations.
