I have a nikon d200 camera, what lens would be the best for taking up close food pictures?? If you want to save money, get a Nikon 55mm F2.8 or 55mm F3.5 non auto focus macro lens. - If you get the 3.5, be sure it has been Ai converted. These lenses will work fine on a D200, and they are available inexpensively on the used market. Because of the 1.5X focal length factor on a D200 (compared to a film camera), I think that shorter focal length lenses like these would be better for pictures of food, than a longer focal length lens like the 105mm macro. Both 55mm lenses are very sharp, and if you taking pictures on a tripod of a stationary subject like food, auto focus is not going to be important. A good macro lens. Sigma makes great lenses for nikon cameras and are a lot cheaper price wise. Probably the 60mm f/2.8D Macro lens. I've done some macro work and I'm also interested in this lens. The 105mm f/2.8G with vibration reduction would also be a good choice, but I don't think you need it for food work. You may also want to consider some 3rd party lenses from Sigma and Tamron, for instance, particularly if budget is an issue. 75-300mm lens, good enough for close to food pictures, after finishing taking the pictures, you could take the food. |
