Automatic lens cover stuck on Panasonic Lumix camera?

I am having trouble with the automatic lens cover on my camera. At first it was only opening a little bit when I turned the camera on. I could pop it all the way open with my finger without much of a problem. Now it is doing the same thing, barely opening, but I can't get it to stay open at all. I can open it all the way with my finger, but it snaps right back to an almost closed state when I let go.

Any suggestions on how to fix it? I bought it at Circuit City...should I take it there to get it fixed even though I think the warrantee is too old? Anyone know about how much it will cost? With the prices of cameras dropping, maybe I'm better off buying a new one!

The mechanical problem of the lens cover should be repaired by the technician 'cause there must be sth wrong inside the camera, and you can not repair it by someway else except to
tear it open.

It won't cost much, 'cause i think it is just a mechanial problem.

maybe you can check the warrantee sheet and then decide wheather you should buy a new one.
