How does one know which camera has the best lens?

I want to buy a 10 MP camera and I was adviced to choose the one with the best lens. So how will I know which camera has the best lens?

Look for a camera with the largest number between the words "Optical" and "X" as in an Optical 3X zoom or Optical 5Xzoom. This indicates how far away your subject can be and still be able to zoom in on it enough to get a good picture. Another indication of a quality in a lens is the maker of the lens. If the camera says the lens was made by a company like Leica, Carl Zeiss or other company with a reputation for quality then it is better than average. Another good option is to check out the reviews in magazines like Consumer Reports where the writers describe the qualities of the cameras objectively.

Nikon lenses are really good, even starting with their kit lenses.

Canon lenses are really good, but some of the lower-price ones (kit lenses) are so-so.

Zeiss is a good name lens that has yet to be put on a decent digital camera.
