Dropped my digital camera while the zoom lens was out. PLEASE HELP!?

I dropped my camera while the zoom lens was out and now I get an error message saying "turn power off and on again". When i do turn it on or off the camera makes a weird noise while it tries to adjust the zoom. But it's just stuck. It's a Sony cybershot Dsc-s90.

How much will it cost to repair it? Can it be repaired? help!

I got the same problem too with my digital camera. If you bring it to Sony, they can only replace the lens or if it is available for your unit, the lens motor. The lens motor would probably cost $70. The lens probably costs $150. But the only problem in your camera is a broken gear. So this is what you should do. Type in "camera gears" or "sony gears" in e-bay and you could buy the gears there at less than $15 including shipping! Then you could bring it to Sony or any repair technician to replace the broken gears! I did it myself because I'm not very sure if Sony will do it. Your problem is solved!

The camera is the lens. I think repairing it would be as much as a new one.

It sounds like some major damage to the zoom lens, which is understandable since you dropped it while it was extended.
It will probably cost quite a bit to get fixed. (you should enquire at a Sony Service Centre perhaps)
But, it's now 2 years old, so it would be cheaper to just buy a new camera. A good new camera will probably cost $200-300.
