Continuing on my my previous question, is there an all in one lens that covers wide angle to telephoto and macro?
If so, pls suggest makes/models and specs.
This question regards a Digital camera.
Thank you very much! :) From ultra wide angle to supertelephoto with macro focusing, no, you' not going to find such a lens, it would be so complex that even if someone made one, no one could afford it.
That said, you can get a18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens that is comes about as close as you can get. It still doesn't have macro focusing ability, so you'd have to get either a close-up lens or extension tubes. It Canon sells for about $370.00, Nikon's is about $730.00 (with image stabilization, which is why it's more expensive). Sort of ...
If you have a DSLR the 24-85mm macro lens is close. DSLR's have interchangeable lenses, so having to carry around one heavy lens to do every thing is not necessary.
Best would be to have four lenses. A 12-24 wide angle zoom, the 24-85mm mid-range zoom, a 70-300mm telephoto zoom and a 60mm macro.
As you can see photography is not cheap.
You may want to look for a SLR-like camera with a 12x non-interchangeable lens. The choices for wide-angle to telephoto zooms are limited only by your budget. Just remember the "crop factor" for your camera. (Converts to the equivalent lens focal length for a 35mm film camera. If the factor is 1.6 then a 10-200mm zoom on a digital camera would be equivalent to a 16-320mm zoom on a 35mm film camera.)
If you're really interested in macro photography then buy a true macro lens. A true macro lens is designed for close-focusing and has a flat field of view. It also provides a 1:1 (life-sized) image. A zoom with macro is usually a 1:4 (1/4 life size) image. |
