How can I fix a digital camera that the lens won't move?

My 5 year old pulled at my digital camera as I turned it on and the lens was extending. Now the lens won't move. The batteries are charged and the camera will make a sound when I power it on, but the lens won't move. It won't go in or out and yet the camera cannot be used. It is summer time and we were planning on taking lots of pictures! Please help! Thanks so much!

As stated before, help the lens back inside. However, this will most likely cause the lens to be stuck in the body, or break it completely.
The best way to fix it would be to take it to a camera store, and have them fix it. Or, you could send it away to the camera company itself. Either way, it will most likely end up at the designated company, because most camera repairers just send them away if the problem is too difficult.
When you get it back, 6 weeks later, the problem may, or may not be fixed. Even if it's still not fixed, if YOU sent it to the company itself, they will still charge you. This would be around $100-$250.

what we used to do with the little zoom 35's was ever so gently try to help the lens along while powering it up. Take the batteries out let the capacitor die in the camera , the object is to reset the computer then reinstall the battery if it doesnt find home shut it off as it hums give it just a nudge every so gently.

word of warning get too rough and you can strip the gears also note I havent used this on the digital cams I got out of the business as they came in if it works we call it "FM" freakin' magic

Sorry to say, you have to take it to the repair shop, this will not be a cheep repair! and it will take on average 4 to 6 weeks to have it fixed!
