Dropped A Camera 3 Inches?

Yesterday, I dropped my Kodak M 873 camera 3 inches onto a countertop. It landed on the lens, and now it's broken.
The lens won't go in, so I think its unaligned. My camera won't stay on, so it's obviously broken.
I read the Kodak warranty, and it's not covering any misuse or having it dropped. [[I've only had the camera since Christmas, and I've taken excellent care of it before... It was just a little accient.]]
It was only 3 inches...
And ideas on what I should do? I was going to tell my parents anyway, because the responsible thing to do is take responsibility for my actions, but my friend wants me to go to 6 Flags with her today for her birthday, and I'm scared I won't be able to go. Help?

The following blog outlines some repair options for a lens error. They won't work for all cases, but they're worth a try if the camera's no longer under warranty:

Buy another M873 & return the damaged one for your money back!

Get the money to fix it.

Or don't.
