Choosing the right camera for the right price?

im searching all around for the right camera. i narrowed it down to the rebel xt and xti. it dousnt really matter which one i get. its the lens that i get with the camera. i found the best web site for the cheapest price. what caught my eyes was a rebel xt w/ a Tamron 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 Di-II LD Autofocus Lens for under $700 (sounds too good to be true). and the xti comes with the kit lens and a 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Autofocus Lens for only under $600. please help me with this tuff choice. now also think i need to also get a pretty fast memory card at least 2gb. and i really really really dont want to pay too much.

The Canon XTi is being replaced with the XTs.

Be very wary of low prices that seem too good to be true. You may be looking at a site that sells "gray market" cameras. The camera is a genuine Canon or Sony or Pentax or Nikon but the warranty on a "gray market" camera is not honored in your home country.

Shop at keh.com or bhphotovideo.com or adorama.com if you're in the USA or Canada. For safety, any site you buy from should first be checked at resellerratings.com.

I would go with the XTi. It is newer and more advanced than the XT.
When it comes to lenses I would stick with the Canon lenses. They are much better made and will last much longer than the Tamron lenses and your camera. Years from now you will still have your lenses and you will be on your fifth camera body. Isn't it better to get the best lens you can?

since money looks like a major issue, u can check out the deals on sites like open2save.in.

i own a rebel XT, and i would highly recommend u to buy the XTi. in the first place i planned to get the XTi, but the sales person keep on convincing me that there's not much different in XT or XTi. i did so little research before buying my camera thus i gave in to her recommendation. there's a big difference in XT and XTi. the most obvious is the megapixel. unless u want to blow ur picture into a bigger-than-a4 size, this shouldn't really matter. then there's the automatic CMOS sensor cleaning, which only comes with the XTi. it's time saving if u have it automatically cleaned, plus, the camera knows exactly what it's doing...and it's very troublesome to do it urself. and lastly, the most important difference for me is the size of the LCD. when u have a bigger LCD u can preview exactly what u have captured. a smaller LCD means u have to zoom much closer to get a clearer look.

i know which ever body doesn't really matter to u, but believe u me, the most important is the body...then the lense. i highly suggest u get the body and the lense separately, or with kit lense first.

i suggest u get the XTi, with a kit lense first. after playing with the lense for a while, then u know what exactly do u need. for longer distance, u need a telephoto. for closer one, a macro lense would do wonders. and for landscape u'd need a wide angle lense.

but to REALLY answer ur question...i suggest the XTi..but paired with the 18-250mm tamron lense. a good lense that covers both close and long distance. but like stated, better go for a canon lense. the closest u can get is the 55-250mm with IS (which i own) and i LOVE it!
