Dropped camera?

I dropped my polaroid i533 digitial camera recently, and the lens zoom is still have out, have in. I try turning it on and off but all it does is show a picture on the LCD screen for 2 seconds, make a beeping noise, and then turns off again. It wasnt a terrible fall either, only 2 feet, although it was on concrete. It is past its warranty but I wonder if it can be fixed?

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension.

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

you can get it fixed or replaced but it would cost you big money. i had that problem irecall with my fuji film camera and i just changed the batteries and let it alone for a day or two and the next time i turned it on it was back to normal. i hope it wokrs out. good luck

I just got a new i533 for my granddaughter's birthday. It was on clearance for $40. I doubt you could get it fixed for that price. It doesn't take much of a fall to ruin a delicate digicam. Use the strap next time. I am going to tell my granddaughter (who will be 7) that she is not allowed to touch it unless it is hanging around her neck! :-)
