I want to buy a camera that is easy to manage and take professional looking pictures...Any suggestions?

as a hobby I take pictures with my digital camera and make slideshows and invitations. I use a lot of photoshop to fix the picture up to make it look like a professional photograph and now I just want to save time and get myself a really nice camera that can take awsome pictures....I just don't know what to get. Also I'm a beginner so I really don't know if the lenses are the ones that make a difference when captureing an image...can some one give me a little more advice in terms of lenses and camera choice to capture a really nice and clean detailed image??

Professional cameras are easy to use if you are a pro. You will need some kind of training to learn how to control the camera's shutter speed, f/stop, light meter and things like that if you want to use one with the least frustration, in the shortest time.

You may find taking a class at your local community college, at a camera store or in some cases reading the manual will get you started toward your goal of shooting awesome images using an awesome camera.

The lens choice has more to do with the kind of subjects you shoot. Wide angle (12-24 mm) for landscapes or architectural, a telephoto (70-300 mm) for shooting wildlife and field sports and a good fast general lens (24-70 mm) for everything else.

If you want read something more about "digital camera",
more information i just come accross this blog which may help you.

Hello Gina.

IMO, a few classes in photography would really benefit you. The fact that you say "I use a lot of photoshop to fix the picture up to make it look like a professional photograph..." tells me you need to improve your camera and photography skills.

Cameras do not take "awesome" pictures. A person skilled in and knowledgeable about photography takes "awesome" or "amazing" or "professional looking" pictures. Cameras are just dumb boxes incapable of doing anything on their own.

Once you understand light and composition and f-stops and ISO and shutter speeds, you'll have a better idea of what camera to buy.

IMO, you will eventually want a DSLR.

You are correct that the lens is very important.

If you're really bored, go to http://www.flickr.com/drifter45h which is my flickr account. Every picture was taken with a Minolta 35mm film camera at least 25 years old and lenses even older. All close-ups were taken with a Minolta 100mm f4 macro lens.
